About Me
Hi, this is Paige. I am a Hamilton, Ontario based Communications Specialist and Designer. At Canadian Spa Company, I helped launch and create content for their first LMS (Learning management System) while also maintaining their internal Sharepoint site, creating newsletters and even graphic design work. At Bubblegum Group, a design agency, I was promoted to Design Manager after 8 months. Our main client was a lighting manufacturer and we provided print design, technical product sheet creation/updates, web design and content as well as social media.
My varied experiences in both communications and design areas, as well as experiences in leadership, html/CSS and learning management make me a versatile asset. Let’s talk!

Stock Up!
A Grocery Shopping and Meal Planning App
Stock Up is a concept, design and prototype for an app that helps large families and institutions such as group homes grocery shop in a much more efficient way. It was made as part of my post-graduate studies in UX design at York University. The main premise of Stock Up is that it takes in your personal recipes, and recipes from others and builds you an ultimate grocery list. Additional secondary features included a recipe view to follow instructions in-kitchen, and the ability to track your carbon ‘foodprint’.
The design began in low-fidelity on humble paper. I user-tested, collaborated and refined it and it made its way into a beautiful, coloured and interactive Figma prototype. Go ahead and scroll/click!
The project taught me a lot about virtual user testing.

Tabl'eau
Launch of Moj'eau water bottle
Worked with the company Tabl’eau and the launch of their new silicone water bottle and cup. We asked questions about the sentiments around silicone, water bottles, packaging and SWAG. We used our findings to guide our Shopify Website design and other plugins.
My Contribution: Research Lead, Designer
Tools Used: Figma, Canva, Illustrator, Figma

Happy Camper
Stratgey Card Game For Two
Having always loved board and card games pushed me to create Happy Camper with the help of Chris Adkins. The game takes inspiration from Netrunner, with original mechanics and art direction. It is unique in that it is asymmetrical- one person plays as nature, and one as the camper. Though the art is the most visible contribution, there was a lot of play-testing and spreadsheets to get the card ratios correct.

Orlight
B2B Lighting Company. General Graphic Design, Content Creation, Social Media Management, etc.
I launched Orlight's Instagram presence, as well as maintaining campaigns across all social media platforms using a service called Buffer to schedule a post calendar and launch posts on multiple platforms simultaneously
This Emergency Lighting Guide is an example of a design project we would do for Orlight. I headed this project, a lighting guide. It is a technical, long form Indesign Document made for their clients to download from their website as a .pdf
This technical, 2d spec drawing is an example of another project where we took 3d files into engineering program Space Claim to create 2d drawings
Day-to-day, Orlight required us to design brochures, email and web assets in line with their design system [fonts/colours].

Motion Specialties
Learning Asset Design and and Fabricating Custom Solutions For Wheelchair Clients
I worked at a company called Motion Specialties for 3 years from 2017-2020! Unfortunately I had to leave because of chronic back pain, but I treasured my time there. I worked on a team to modify accessibility equipment, often for the severely disabled. There I gained experience in CAD(computer aided design) with Fusion360, machining, industrial sewing and 3d scanning. I also designed training and how-to guides and assets for the team. Posted above is one such tutorial thrown together describing how I would make footplate walls for some power chairs to prevent peoples’ feet from slipping off of the footplate into the castors/wheels.
Motion really taught me how to think on my toes- we even had to think of and build solutions while clients were waiting sometimes! As I transition into a less physical design role, I will always treasure my time at Motion and the optimism of even the most severely disabled people.
I worked at Canadian Spa Company, a major player in the hot tub industry, as a Communications Specialist. Besides maintaining their Sharepoint internal site, newsletter and email blasts, I singlehandedly implemented their first LMS (Learning Management) System and created internal courses [such as the Basic Chemicals course]. Creating the digital
courses required graphic design [photoshop, Illustrator, Canva] as well as video editing and iSpring to help create SCORM LMS files with interactions and quizzes. click here to see a video of a user proceeding through a course I created
My background in Graphic design allowed me to quickly produce visual communications for website and email such as this "One Pager" sent out to customers receiving hot tubs in winter months
Never afraid to contribute with creative direction, I also helped the marketing team with my graphic design skills to mock up ideas for marketing campaigns

Traditional visual art has always been close to my heart, and a way of reducing screen-time and resting my eyes. I think there are huge opportunities to make designs this way and scan them in and manipulate them digitally as well.
Simple pen and paper is a great way to make wireframes and user flows because there is less between you and the idea- to make a shape you just draw it, you don't have to worry about finding a shape tool, or aligning objects- it's freeing.

V Team is an ongoing personal project of mine. Working with a fullstack developer, we are building an online murder mystery platform for players and writers. The goal is to have a self sustaining marketplace where writers and players can thrive.
Above are the preliminary designs for the Player and Writer Interfaces

Benajmin Bluejay and Teetee Chickadee
Author, Illustrator, self-publisher
After having a child myself in 2022 and wanting to brush up on digital illustration, I created
the book in March 2023 using Krita for digital illustration and Indesign. I self-published the book on amazon's platform, Kindle Direct Publishing
It was a great experience to create press-ready files including the cover/spine and an interesting look into the self publishing world
Branding & Identity
Freelance Design
I love helping companies brand or rebrand. My process is to first have a conversation about existing branding and branding examples that
are preferred. We then move towards sketches fir further direction, and then to semi-final and final versions. I also like providing a mock-up
of branding in action, such as on a box or business card
Slimpod Website Redesign
Graphic Design, Web Design, UX Design. See the prototype here, here
On the left was the old website- there was a lot of text, and the page was far too long. I worked to try and capture attention with larger imagery and an easier call-to-action. It was important here to retain the feel and aspects of the brand that the client wanted.
